By 2027, AEDC intends to develop 305 units of supportive housing for aging members of the population at risk of homelessness on four sites in Los Angeles County. Plans are also underway for the preservation of approximately 215 units with the total amount of units to come online in the next 60 months is expected at 520 by 2028.
This five-story, type III affordable housing building consists of 114 units. Designed with an efficient layout, it aims to redefine the neighborhood aesthetic by featuring varied facade heights, articulations, and modern sustainable materials. Blending with the surrounding color scheme, the building stands out while harmonizing with its environment.
This is a five-story, type III affordable housing building comprising 120 units. It boasts a contemporary design with stucco cladding and features an open-space courtyard that divides the structure. The overall design aims to revitalize the corner lot by creating a standout building with clean and defined elements. The proposed materials for the building include white and grey stucco, brushed aluminum metal railings, and expansive street-facing windows. These materials not only provide visual interest but also allow ample natural light into the building.
The Kansas Apartments comprise 31 units of affordable, contemporary housing Type V-A construction. The building is clad with smooth stucco and fiber cement siding, creating a modern aesthetic. The design of the building, while simple, is visually appealing, sparking discussions about the future of affordable housing. The focus was on maximizing space efficiency without sacrificing design or comfort. This led to a functional and compact yet open interior and exterior layout, ensuring a comfortable living experience for residents.
Ben Apartments is a 40-unit affordable housing project constructed under Type V-A regulations. The contemporary design incorporates warm and inviting materials, complemented by an efficient interior layout. The primary goal is to offer affordable spaces that inspire residents, fostering a sense of connection and growth. To achieve this, the building includes open roof spaces and rear yard gardens, inviting inhabitants to engage and flourish. In order to maximize usable space and ensure the comfort of residents, the design was carefully adjusted. Compact and efficient individual units were prioritized, while incorporating necessary amenities became a key consideration during the project's development
